ERROR 404: MANAUS DOES NOT EXIST
How are we doing friends? Hopefully just amazing. If not, what are you doing bruh? Go buy a little snack or something. Be happy.
No more negativity from Elder Chapman. (I'm dying)SUPER CRAZY WACKY WEEK THIS WEEK - I'll try and keep it short though. The people are insane here when it comes to food (well not just about the food. They are insane in every other way as well, but we'll focus on the food for today). We were at this families house for lunch and everything was chill. Lasagna. MMMMH there's something about Brazilian lasagna. It SLAPS. But it's also extremely cheesy and greasy. We are eating. Talking with the members (Elder Vitti obviously doing most of the talking, because you might actually think I was the latter day Alma the younger [struck dumb]). Anyway, I'm DEMOLISHING this lasagna and rice. (WHY DO WE NEED RICE WITH EVERY MEAL) (I don't think I'll ever know the real reason). As I'm finishing my like 3rd slice of lasagna, I can feel my arteries clogging up and my heart stopping, when the Sister that cooked for us says the dreaded words, the words I fear might be said at every lunch... "Come mais Elder" (eat more elder) NOOOO WHYYY?? HAVE YOU NOT SEEN ME DESTROYING YOUR LASAGNA? DO YOU NOT SEE HOW MAD CHUNKY I AM RIGHT NOW LADY? IM CLEARLY FED AT HOME I DO NOT NEED MORE!!! But, as a good elder does, I grab another slice of lasagna and continue to eat, feeling as though I was going to pass away or at least fall into a food coma. Also the lasagna doesn't beat mommas, so with respect, get better lady. (It was a very close second though I'm not even going to lie)A funny little addition to this story - after we finished lunch I was giving a message about a scripture. I was talking about how we need to have faith, hope and a love for God, when this random lady walks out from the house onto the porch where everyone was, in literally just a towel. What an interesting way to greet the missionaries bahaha. We had a division this week. (A division is where missionaries trade companions for the day)(and in this case I was with a zone leader). It was pretty freaking sick because for once, I was with an American missionary for a full day, AND I COULD ACTUALLY SAY STUFF TO HIM. Unlike how it is with Elder Vitti where I can only use very minimal English, and what little Portuguese I know. We were walking down the street looking for a house of a person that had a media reference. We went to their house and this chubby little Brazilian boy answered the door. My comp for the day Elder Stevens, asked if he knew the person with the name from the reference. He said no and went to ask his mom and she also said no. Well the mom went to one of the houses behind her house and asked someone back there, and that's where we met out new friend: Gulhereme, and no don't ask me to pronounce his name please. I have no idea. Also he wasn't even the reference he just happened to want to hear a message. Anyway, we started talking to him and he told us that he had really been struggling with some things and wanted to find a new church to go to. Perfect timing eh? He told us he had problems with smoking and drinking and that he didn't feel very good about it and decided to quit. HOW AWESOME IS THAT?? We were able to talk to him for a while and gave him a little lesson, about The Book of Mormon, invited him to read a chapter and invited him to church. He said he would love you go. Elder Stevens also invited him to be baptized. He said yes. WHAT?? We just met you bro what're you talking about you want to be baptized? Hey I'm not complaining. Super sick. Me and Elder Vitti visited him the next day and talked with him for a little and re-invited him to go to church. He said he would. We actually invited like 6+ people to go to church on Sunday and not a single one showed up. I'm 90% sure it's because of the rain and not a lot of people have cars and they usually live pretty far from the church. It's okay. There's always next week.Oh and we went and visited Mateus and his parents. Elder Stevens invited his parents to be baptized. They said they would next month. ELDER STEVENS IS A DAWG AND A HALF. Crazy. Hopefully all these folks follow through. I really hope so. Transfers are in 2 weeks so, I probably won't see a whole lot of baptisms of the people I was helping teach so that kinda sucks. I hope the next set of missionaries take care of my people...We stopped by some members house and we had fried bananas and butter on fresh baked bread from the bakery down the road. It was amazing. I'm actually craving it right now lol. Anyway, the sister was sewing a hole in her dress at the table. I said "Você costura muito?" (do you sew much) and she said she did. I was able to show her, and a couple other people that were at their house, a bunch of my sewing projects on my phone and everyone loved them. "OOOO muito bonito" and "muito legal" they said. They were amazed. They were super shocked when they saw my hand embroidered sunflower and asked if I used a machine for it. It was super cool to tell them I did it by hand, but to be honest my sunflower is kinda ugly (it was my first try at hand embroidery so I'll take the compliments while I can.) The lady that was sewing even asked if me and Elder Vitti could come over on a P-Day so I could teach her how I sew. I wasn't super interested because P-Day is our only free day and we have a lot of stuff to take care of so I just said "uhhh possivelmente." LOLRANDOM STUFF:1. We were walking down the road and this random old guy sitting on his porch said "Goodnight my friends" as we walked by. It was sweet.2. I ate Brazil Nuts in Brazil.3. This random guy at church showed me this Ai generated video of Donald Trump and Elon Musk, dancing to Staying Alive. Very interesting. He got a kick out of that video.4. Ubers are pretty sick, you never know when your going to crash, burn and die!5. This like 15 year old kid at chrurch told me he had a dream about me and that I spoke perfect Portuguese. CAN WE PLEASE MAKE THIS KIDS DREAM A REALITY?6. There was a guy at a convenience store where me and Elder Vitti were having our water date (photo down below), and he had a soccer shirt on and the name was "jaun, ex da Lana Del Rey" and I've never wanted a t-shirt more in my life. I will get one.7. I think I've been sleep walking/talking. I woke up sitting straight up saying something while moving my sheet and Elder Vitti was staring at me wondering what in the world was going on and asked if I couldn't sleep either. It was wack and I have no idea what was happening.8. Elder Stevens was talking to this guy at his front door and this little boy was by the window to the right and I waved at him. He waved back, ran away and came back with a red toy truck. I smiled and gave him a thumbs up. He ran away and came back with a blue toy truck. I smiled and gave another thumbs up. It was the cutest thing ever.9. I'm not sure if you remember from last email where I was talking about Elder Randall's snake. The crazy lady that is obsessed with him. Well he was somewhere else and I was sitting in class and I look at the door to the class and see the darn crazy lady staring right at me. It was like a jumpscare dude I swear. I wanted to cry.10. I taught Elder Vitti the word "shawty." - He really likes this one, and he said I need to start saying "gata"11. We had lunch at this one lady's house and both got really bad stomach aches. I was suffering.12. I have a one month streak on doulingo13. Elder Vitti had to fix my hair, because President hated it. (photo down below.)SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK:John 8:6-76. "This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not."7. "So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."These are fire and Jesus is lowkey a gangster."But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not."What a savageOkay but for real, we are all sinners. Judge yourself and think of the person you are before you worry about others. I invite all of you to read John 8. It's super fire.QUOTES OF THE WEEK:"You like boys" - Elder Chapman"I know" - Elder Vitti, (meaning to say "I não" or "I don't")."The Lords P-Day" - Elder Vitti, talking about the Sabbath.THROW BACK QUOTE, THIS IS FROM THE MTC -"Vou me enforcar" - Elder Chapman"VOCÊ CONSEGUE!!!" - Sister BiesingerWell that's it from this week.
